I have had about half-a-dozen encounters with Great Horned Owls over the last decade. I have photos for most and will be documenting as time permits. One was on 2009-March-22.
This species has a more aggressive reputation than most of our owls - so approach with caution.
For more information and range, etc. I suggest a visit to Owling.com (Great Horned Owl).
